Working principle:
1.Cools burning material. Very effective against fires in furniture, fabrics, etc. (including deep seated fires), but can be safely used only in the absence of electricity.
2.Air-pressurized water(APW) cools burning material by absorbing heat from burning material. Effective on class A fire, it has the advantage of being inexpensive, harmless, and relatively easily to clean up.
3.Water mist (WM) uses a fine misting nozzle to break up a stream of deionized water to the point of not conducting electricity back to the operator. Class A and C rated. It is used widely in hospitals for the reason that, unlike other clean-agent suppressants, it is harmless and non-contaminant.

How to use:
1.For plain water extinguishers: check that there is no live electrical equipment in the area.
2.Pull the pin at the top of the extinguisher. The pin releases a locking mechanism and will allow you to discharge the extinguisher.
3.Aiming the extinguisher nozzle:
• Fires spreading horizontally: Aim the nozzle at the base of the fire, moving the jet across the area of the fire
• Fire spreading vertically: Aim the nozzle at the base of the fire, slowly moving the jet upwards following the direction of the fire
4.As the fire starts to diminish carefully move closer to it
5.Ensure all the fire has been extinguished, try to focus on any hot spots that may re-ignite
6.Be sure to have read the instructions on your fire extinguisher.
Application :
The Water and Foam extinguisher eliminates a fire by allowing water to take away the heat component of a fire while foam separates oxygen from the fire. A water extinguisher should only be used on Class A fires (Combustibles such as wood, paper, cloth, trash, and plastics).
